The Get Outdoors Project

Welcome to ODP!

The Get ODP (Get Outdoors Project) is about doing all the hardcore outdoor activities of this world with other solid believers. The ODP enjoys God’s creation while operating weekend and overnight outdoor trips such as cycling, rock climbing, trail rides, canoeing, hiking, etc. for young adults 18 and up.

We believe that by being outdoors, providing exciting activities, and taking a slight step outside of our comfort zone, we will build relationships with each other and with our God.

1) Register!

2) Cost to ODP is $45 + expect approximately $40 in gas money. The ODP fee gets you two nights, food, fresh ODP swag, fellowship, and all sorts of outdoorsiness! There is also an entry fee at the park of $5 per day, but normally we are able to get that waived with our Parks passes. Plan on buying a meal or two on the road.

3) McDonald Observatory and Fort Davis: our plan is to tour both locations. General Admission passes are being reserved for our group for McDonald and we should be able to waive most of the entry fees to the Fort using Annual Passes.

4) Schedule: We are camping in the mountains on Friday and Saturday night. We will be enjoying the area’s many trails Friday afternoon, all day Saturday (expect long distances), and as time permits on Sunday. We will likely tour the Observatory on our way in on Friday. We also are planning a scenic drive through the mountains, exploration of Fort Davis, and campside church on Sunday morning. Devos/Bible study, games, and sports interspersed throughout. I put tentative times down, but those can/will be flexible

5)  Transportation: We will be leaving in the wee hours of the morning on Friday to maximize our time and returning the afternoon/evening of that Sunday. You’ll need to get off work/school/laying around your house in pajamas on Friday to roll out there with us. We will be organizing rides from the Camp area and trying to consolidate rides to minimize the number of vehicles. If you have a significant commute, then accommodations at Camp on Thursday night are available. Let me know if you are willing to drive!

6) (Tent)ative limit is currently 24 for this one, so lock down your spot!

West Texas Xcursions have always been epic. Get excited!
